About the LHS line
The LHS Line (also known as "broad track") is the longest on the territory of Poland broad gauge railway line (track gauge of 1520 mm) designed for freight transport. It is also the farthest west broad-gauge line in Europe. It connects the Polish-Ukrainian railway border crossing Hrubieszów / Izow with Silesia, and ends in Sławków in Dąbrowski Basin (25 km from Katowice). The length of the line amounts almost 400 km (the exact length of the line is 394.650 km). The line has a specific regional coverage (runs through the south-eastern Poland and Lubelskie, Podkarpackie, Świętokrzyskie, Małopolskie i Silesia provinces). The main attributes of the line are: transport without handling the goods at the border and the ability to drive heavy train sets.
Who we are?
PKP Broad Gauge Metallurgical Railway Line Ltd (PKP LHS), is a company that manages the broad gauge infrastructure of the LHS line and offers traction service and additional logistics- forwarding services. Along the LHS line there are infrastructure facilities used to operate trains (stations and passing points) and handle cargo (loading terminals, loading ramps and yards, warehouses, customs warehouses, truck and wagon scales). PKP LHS optimally manages the railway infrastructure, carrying out development and restoration investments in order to maintain technical and operational efficiency of the railway line number 65. We execute transport of goods in whole train sets and in single wagons, intermodal transport - containers, semi- trailers. We offer a full range of door to door forwarding services.
